The lodge has 36 Temporary Living Facilities, including 10 pet-friendly units, as well as 55 Visiting Quarters and six Business Suites. All rooms are non-smoking. During normal operating hours—Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.— make reservations for Business Suites through the Protocol Office at DSN 681-2729 or (575) 784-2729. After normal business hours and on weekends, make reservations for Business Suites by calling DSN 681-2919 or (575) 784-2919. To ensure space availability, make Priority One reservations (PCS and TDY guests) up to 60 days before you arrive. Priority Two reservations are based on projected occupancy. Call the lodging office for the "space available" policy.

The base offers six separate housing areas in four locations. You are permitted two preferences for housing in the area for which you qualify, but a preference could increase your wait time. Newcomers are also placed on the appropriate waiting list: senior officer, field grade officer, company grade officer, senior noncommissioned officer and junior noncommissioned officer. A typical wait for government quarters is up to three months. If you apply in advance, you will be placed on the appropriate waiting list on the day you depart from your losing permanent duty station. To apply in advance, complete DD Form 1746 and forward this form along with your assignment orders to:

ON BASE
General Joe Cannon Estates-Mercury features 299 units for Jr. NCOs—two- and three-bedroom, single-story duplexes, and Senior Officer —three- and four-bedroom, single-story units. Schools are Ranchvale Elementary and Marshall Middle School. General Joe Cannon Estates-Gemini features 48 units for Company Grade—four-bedroom, two-story multiplexes, for Field Grade—three- and four-bedroom, single-story duplexes, and Senior Officer—four-bedroom, one-story single units. Schools are Ranchvale Elementary and Marshall Middle School.

CHAVEZ MANOR
The 250-unit neighborhood just outside of the front gate on U.S. Highway 60/84 features Jr. NCOs—four-bedroom, single-story duplexes, Sr. NCOs—four-bedroom, single-story duplexes, and Field Grade—four-bedroom, one-story single units. Schools are Ranchvale Elementary and Marshall Middle School.

CHAVEZ WEST
The 361-unit complex just outside of the front gate on U.S. Highway 60/84 features Jr. NCOs —two-, three- and four-bedroom, single-story duplexes, Sr. NCOs—three- and four-bedroom, single-story duplexes, Prestige (E9)— four-bedroom, one-story single units, Company Grade—two- and three-bedroom, single-story duplexes, and Field Grade—four-bedroom, single-story duplexes. Schools are Barry Elementary and Marshall Middle School.

CLOVIS
About a 15-minute drive to the base, Cannon Place offers 200 units for Jr. NCOs—four-bedroom, one- and two-story singles, Sr. NCOs four-bedroom, one- and two-story singles, Company Grade—four-bedroom, one- and two-story singles, and Field Grade—four-bedroom, one- and two-story singles. Schools are Mesa Elementary, Yucca Middle School and Clovis High School.

PORTALES
About a 25-minute drive to the base, Cannon Meadows has 150 units available for Jr. NCOs —two-, three- and four-bedroom, one- and two-story singles, Sr. NCOs—three- and four-bedroom, one- and two-story singles, and Company Grade—two-, three- and four-bedroom, one- and two-story singles. Portales schools are divided into grades:
Grade K: Brown Elementary
Grade 1: Steiner Elementary
Grades 2 and 3: James Elementary
Grades 4 and 5: Valencia Elementary
Grade 6: Lindsey Middle
Grades 7 and 8: Portales Junior High
Grades 9 through 12: Portales High

Cannon has 12 dormitories for single airmen E1 through E3 and E4 with less than three years time in service. Single NCOs and E4s with more than three years service qualify on a space-available basis only. All rooms are carpeted and typically include a bed, a wall unit, wardrobe and/or closet, a night stand with lamp, a dresser, a desk chair, a desk and a refrigerator.

BAH INFORMATION
Monthly BAH authorizations are based on the cumulative (all dorms) occupancy rate of 90 percent or greater. First sergeants will notify qualifying individuals based on date-of-rank order on the BAH waiting list.

Many Cannon personnel and their families live in nearby Clovis and Portales. Before committing to any off-base housing, be sure to check with the Housing Referral Office. And remember these important details about local rentals:
• The cost of utilities is rarely included in the monthly rent.
• Pets can complicate your search, especially in furnished apartments or homes.
